ALCOR: The ideal laser for a miniature two-photon microscope (Mini2P)
Spark Lasers
Published 29/08/2023
Spark Lasers’ ALCOR laser offers clean femtosecond pulses with proprietary HPC® Technology (High Pulse Contrast) to provide maximum peak power and achieve optimal image brightness in two-photon microscopy systems. Available center wavelengths for selection include 780, 920, 1040 and 1064 nm, with option for 2nd harmonic frequency doubling.
3 years ago, Spark Lasers has developed fiber delivery on femtosecond laser ALCOR. Recently Spark Lasers designed fiber delivery to address the growing interest in the study of freely moving animals made possible with the invention of the miniature 2-photon miniscope (Mini2P).

The advantages of ALCOR 920 designed for Mini2P including fiber coupling technology include:
- A fiber-coupled turn-key laser with collimated beam and optimal coupling efficiency.
- Industrially qualified fiber output characteristics (M², pulse quality, polarization, stability vs bending…)
- One box (no external coupling box) to provide ultimate system stability
- Replaceable fiber thanks to FC connectorization
- Versatile design that enables control of a wide range of positive GDD precompensation to accommodate a wide range of fiber variations (length).
- Multi beam modules to achieve parallel Mini2P experiments.
